 January 2008

Dear Praying Amigos,

2007 Adult Christmas Cantata and Play

This Christmas our adult Choir and actors presented Ron Hamilton’s cantata/play “Ten Thousand Hallelujahs”.  We presented the adult cantata twice: once at the new church and once at our main church.  At our main church there were 70 people present and one adult accepted Christ as her Savior.  Pray for Silvia and her spiritual growth.

Children’s Christmas Cantata

Since September, Geri and Rachel have been practicing with the children’s choir on Wednesday evenings getting the Children’s Christmas Cantata ready.  The children did a wonderful job during their three presentations.  We presented the children’s cantata at our main church at the beginning of December, then we presented it at the new church during a Friday night service. On December 23, we presented it again at our main church.  During the last presentation, I know that at least one person accepted Christ as her Savior.  There were 5 salvation decisions at our church during the Christmas season.

A 5 year old “New born” Baby is born

Last month, Victory Baptist Church in Londrina officially came into existence.  Actually, we officially registered the church and organized the church.  We now have our Federal tax number and we can open bank accounts, etc.  Even though 50% to 75 % of the churches that I know of are not officially organized before the government, I felt we needed to do so in order to be able to have the two churches functioning here in Londrina.

2008 Drama Camp

In January, we will hold a four day Drama Camp at church to teach drama techniques and/or acting.  My main goal was to teach children and teens, but half of the people signed up are adults and older teens.

He’s Read his whole Bible 5 Times in 3 ½ Years

Text Box: Happy New Year
There is a couple that is attending our new church that has been a blessing to us.  Íria and her husband started listening to the Bible Broadcasting network Radio station about four years ago.  One of the Preachers that they have been listening to for the last few years visited a church nearby and they went for that special service. During that service, they made a public profession of faith.  That was about a month before we started our new church.  They live just a few blocks from our new church, so the pastor of that church gave us their name and address and encouraged them to visit us.  Íria started coming during the fourth week of conferences at the new church and has not stopped coming.  Her husband is a truck driver and is always on the road, but he listens to Christian Radio. In the last 3 ½ years, he has read his Bible through five times.  He and his wife are signed up for our Baptism and membership class and will be some of the first people baptized at our new church.
