Dear Praying Amigos,

On Saturday, October 6^th, at 7 PM we will start our 4^th Baptist Church here in Brazil. It will be our second church plant in the city of Londrina. Two years and three months ago, we received a special offering to purchase land for the fourth work. The land is on the growing side of town in a new area with many new homes. The property is located on a divided four lane thoroughfare and is in a highly visible location.

One of my Brazilian preacher boys recently graduated from Bible College and he and his wife are raising their monthly support from Brazilian churches to come and help start this work.

It will cost about $35K to $40K to put up a building on that property. We do not have that money in hands, so we will start by renting a building and holding meetings there until we can start some type of construction on that property.

Geri and I are still working at our third church and will still be here for some time to come. It is our goal to get our third church up to 300. In the near future, we will be building the 3^rd church’s sanctuary. If we can get the set up funds for this fourth church before it starts, it would enable Geri and I to start the fourth church and get it going some years before we originally planned to start it.

In order to start the fourth church, we need your help. Here are some expenses that we will incur starting the new church.

Set Up for New Church

100 Chairs @ $22 each = US$ 2,200.00

Rent $250/month x 12 = US$ 3,000.00

Overhead projector, et all= US$ 300,00

Pulpit, communion tables = US$ 250.00

Other set up costs/ advertisement US$ 1,000.00

Total US$ 6,750.00

Can you help us get this church started? God has given us land and a preacher boy to get this church started. Can you help us financially to cover these set up expensives and get this church started?

Londrina is the third largest city in south Brazil. It has a metropolitan population approaching 1,000,000 people. It is my goal to start at least five Baptist churches here in Londrina. It would be difficult for me to do this all alone; but working together with some Brazilian church planters, I will be able to get more churches started during our ministry here. It is my goal that the fourth church grows to average 100.

Donations can be sent to the “S. David Smith Congregation Construction fund” at Baptist Mid-Missions in Cleveland, Ohio. We will receive 100% of these designated funds.
